I don't know much about options but I went close to the money and put a limit order on midprice 5-10 days out. Seems fun.

if you day trade, you could wait for a 50 cross the 200 ma on a five minute chart.

For day trading, I use EMA(13) with Heiken Ashi 5 min candles.
For options, I buy at the money (ATM) or slightly in the money (ITM) at least 30 days out to reduce theta burn.
