I look at the tremendous gains in some of the Las Vegas Casino's stocks and think, who the "F" would even consider buying a stock AFTER is goes up like 50% in 7 trading days ... so is it time to short ?

These stocks are moving on outrageous volume ...
....my training says not when Volume is still driving the stock higher .... so ... take a look at these, and let me know when you think it is time to jump in with some SHORTS.

Oh yah, presently shorts are losing their shorts (litterally) as these have enormous strength .... and idiots like me think the move is unprecedented.....maybe thats what is fueling the surge ? ... maybe when it does turn it will be a landslide ?

Check out LVS and MGM ....

Hi
Here is what I look for short with.

Fetcher[
close > .15 and average volume (90) > 200,000 and set {UP%, close / close 5 days ago} add column UP% and UP% > 1.5 and sort column 5 descending and add column market and high reached a new 60 day high
and market is not OTCBB
]

Rule 1
You have to have a correction down ---and ----then at least 4 days up (white bars) with no new high.
these 4 days up do not have to been all together.

Rule 2
After you have had your 4 days up ---- then you want the price to break below the last 2 day low for your entry.

I would not short the 2 you have mentioned yet.

See ya
David

neither is a short...you short when the trend is broken and that don't look broken.

...the intrigue...or appeal of timing the trade at very top is enticing. As soon as I see the volume starting to dry up, then I will be planting my feet in the starting block ....... watch these beauties very close !
LVS and MGM

I still find it hard to conceive, who the "F" would be buying ... woulld you????

....Well, if the buying interest just isn't there, then the writing is on the wall ......

There comes a point when there just won't be any more buyers ...and that sure must be close... the ride down will be fast and furious.... then watch what happens when all us shorting this, start the frenzied covering ... yikes ... a nice cold Sam Adams will be waiting.

Wouldn't it be great to have "short interest" as part of the stock fetcher tool set ?

I think M4M is LONG MGM ... see his posts to verify ...
Re: shorting ...
All summer, I've gotten "junk" email claiming, "hedge funds selling in record numbers!" , "the market is tired!", "volume is low!" ...
JUNK mail indeed!!
IF "insiders" are selling, it's obviously NOT affecting this BULL market .
The current mkt. reminds me of the NAZ in 1999-2000 AND 2007.
I.E., .. This time 2 yrs. ago, ... "BIDU going to $400!" ...
Nobody knows when the market will STOP going up.
Renowed "market-timers" who've been "in cash" since July are "wrong", as far as I'm concerned.
They've missed a HUGE move. And, they've disserviced their subscribers, who've missed the move too!
IMHO, going short in "anticipation" of a correction is not a good thing to do.
I've read numerous trading blogs where traders have gone short .... they're LOSING.
Even with stops, the bottom line is .. they've lost. Because the trend is still up.
WIth all their ornate charts , overlays and rationalizations (comparing 1929 to now) ... they're WRONG.
The markets ARE irrational. So, it's best to just follow the trend, and "rationalize" nothing.
"Short interest"??? Clearly, this market is out to destroy the bears.
As Chetron said, ... best to wait until the reversal is confirmed.
:>)

Oh!
I see JP said the same ... basically
"The trend is your friend" ...
Wait for the confirmation of a reversal ...
The only people who'll know ahead of time work at Goldman Sachs.

LOL!

Thanks Karenma ... you know that "THE TREND IS YOUR FRIEND" saying has kept me in good trades ... and bailed me out of some bad ones ... time to refocus !
